Successful wineries, distilleries and farm venues are using iconography that plays on their architectural features or landmarks. This could be a spire on the roof, a map of the farm, an animal that’s kept, or an old tree. I analysed the features of Wallington Orchard and allowed myself to be inspired.
I felt like the venue was great because it has both a barn and orchard to utilise. Therefore, it was integral I find a way to combine both features.
Beginning with sketching on tracing paper, I explored merging the trees and barn into one icon through overlaying sketches of the trees onto a silhouette of the barn until I found a shape that was balanced.
I contained the shape of the fruit trees within the shape of the barn. It reflects the venue’s surrounds as well as where the functions take place.
I wanted to steer away from typical muted colours seen in a lot of wedding branding and instead reference the vibrant vineyards, fruit orchard and overall colour of the environment.
I paired the workhorse Neue Haas Grotesk with Ivy Presto for a clean and elegant look. Styled with loose tracking and light weights to keep the brand crisp and paired back.
I handed off the brand kit which the in-house team is applying across social media channels. They booked their first wedding in November 2023, just days after the brand launched.
